|
Since the Courses began in 1990, a total
of more than 4,000 students have now taken part. Several have gone on to
row for their country at an international level, including 2 of whom won
medals for the British team at the Olympic Games in 2004 and 2008. This page tries
to summarise these achievements, and provides some feedback from previous
participants on the Courses. |

2006, 2007, 2008 Feedback:
The comments below are typical of those that students and parents continue to use in judging the courses. However, one simple statistic comes out from the questionnaire completed by all students at the end of the 2007 courses :
|
Parents’ Feedback:
Phil and Liz have just returned from their week's rowing course and both
had,"the best holiday ever"!! Thank you very much for allowing
them to take the course and also the course supervisors who made their stay
so very enjoyable. Needless to say they would both like to repeat the course
next year!
[2005 Parent] |
“Eton is such a beautiful school
and these children are so privileged to have been coached in such magnificent
surroundings. This year [our son] took part for the second year running,
and once again he has made many new friends who share his love of rowing”
[2004 Parent]
|
“Thank you so much for organizing
the Rowing Courses once again – [our daughter] has obviously had the
time of her life, and has not stopped talking about it since she returned!
The mix of rowing instruction, social life and land-based activities seems
to have been just right”
[2003 Parent]
|
“With many years of personal experience
of the sport I believe strongly in the need for an all round knowledge of
boats and the skills needed to propel them. It is obvious that our son gained
these whilst on the Course and, moreover, thoroughly enjoyed himself while
attaining them.”

| STUDENT FEEDBACK |
I've attended many summer camps
but this was the best by a mile - I just don't want to go home!
[2005 Student]
|
The coaches were really nice
and friendly. It was brilliant to meet Ed Coode, and to row on the Olympic
lake at Dorney. Thank you for such a fantastic time - I loved it!
[2005 Student]
|
A great course - well-orientated
towards having fun rather than training ridiculously hard. I've made so
many new friends and we can't wait to come back next year!
[2005 Student]
|
The
free time was brilliant, and I especially liked the outdoor pool –
it’s the largest I've ever seen! The Social Room in the evening was
also great fun, but I was usually very tired at that time of day!”
[2004 Student] |
I have now been twice on the
Courses and enjoyed all of the opportunities and facilities that my Club
simply could not offer: an excellent coach-to-student ratio, a wide selection
of excellent boats to row in, and the chance to row on a proper Rowing
Lake as well as on a beautiful stretch of the Thames. The highlights of
the Course for me were meeting Matthew Pinsent, and also standing up in
the VIIIs on the final day – I doubt I'll ever be able to do that
again!”
[2002 Student]
|
I feel very lucky
to have met Matthew Pinsent, Tim Foster, and Ben Hunt Davis [3 Olympic Gold
Medallists] in the space of 2 weeks – thank you SO much!”
[2002 Student]
|
I received a photo and report this morning
that I wasn't expecting, and it's nice to have some information from the
coaches to work on! I really enjoyed the week at Eton, especially because
I made lots of new friends and look forward to seeing them at future Regattas”
